A priceless relic has been filched from an Egyptian stronghold. The brazen crime bears the signature of the suave Sir John Smythe, eminent international art thief extraordinaire. He’s better known to Vicky Bliss as John Tregarth—her longtime lover. Vicky flies to Egypt to investigate, promptly tracking down John. He ardently avows his innocence in the case of the purloined relic, but offers no explanation for his frequent leaves of absence. Nor can he account for himself when murder most foul enters the mix.
