Melvin Murphy is your average everyday teen... until he finds the System. Melvin has normal problems. High School. Tests. Trying to find a girlfriend (and failing... miserably). Meet Alexander Krup, your average high school graduate turned video game beta tester. Working for a strange company nobody has ever heard of, he earns his pay by the achievement. After a string of bad luck, including his girlfriend dumping him, he wakes up one seemingly average day and is suddenly faced with blue boxes of text that float in the air. While coming to grips with the fact that he might by hallucinating, a representative of his mysterious employer communicates through the menu boxes to offer a fresh life in another world.

The mystery deepens as more clues come to light about Melvin’s bloodline in the form of long-lost half-siblings. Not all of them are nice. To top it all off, Melvin quickly discovers there is something wrong with his mana. Everything he touches, he corrupts.

In a desperate attempt to return to Kalli’s side, Melvin finds himself on a mysterious new planet. There he meets his father, the all-powerful wizard behind the M bloodline. Grounded by powerful magic that prevents him from leaving the planet, Melvin must piece together clues about his family’s past before it’s too late.

Hidden in the basement of the Los Angeles Times, there Melvin will learn wonderful things like interdimensional astronomy, mana fencing, and how to get a girlfriend. Dragons, Gods, and bullies thrive in the Magical World hidden right beneath our eyes. Does Melvin have what it takes to pass?

Melvin is lost when Kalli returns to Gaia. After pushing his friends away, he turns to his newfound skills as a healer for some much-needed solace.
