• How To Ditch Perfection and Fail Forward to Succeed w/ Caroline Chambers
    Oct 3 2024

As more mothers enter the world of entrepreneurship, studies show that balancing passion and family can be overwhelming - even paralyzing. The pressure to turn a passion into a profitable business while keeping up with the demands of parenting can leave many feeling unsure of where to start or whether they have what it takes.

With social media filled with perfect images of other moms seemingly "doing it all," it's easy to feel like you're falling short if your journey isn’t picture-perfect. But here’s the truth: Success doesn’t require perfection, and you don’t need to have it all figured out before you begin.

What if instead of waiting for the "right time" or having the perfect setup, you took the chance by “failing forward”? Could being messy and imperfect actually be the secret to making your passion profitable?

In this episode, I talk to cookbook and Substack author, Caroline Chambers, who built a successful business while balancing motherhood. She shares why action is the key to clarity and how to start small, monetize trust, and grow your passion without waiting for the perfect moment.

Things You’ll Learn In This Episode

    • Why You Should Be Open to Change

If you’re feeling stuck, it might be because the path you're on isn’t where your true passion lies, and trying something new could open doors you never knew existed. Are you holding yourself back by staying in your current routine?

    • “Failing Forward” is Okay

Success comes from learning, not perfection. What could you achieve if you let go of needing everything to be perfect and just started?

    • Turn Trust into a Business

Building real trust with your community encourages support and can create opportunities for making money. Have you thought about how you could turn the trust people have in you into something valuable?

Caroline Chambers grew up in the kitchen on her mom’s hip, learning how to cook in their Winston-Salem, North Carolina, home. Her professional food career began in her early twenties when she worked as a chef and caterer. After a stint in a professional test kitchen, Caro struck out on her own as a freelancer, developing recipes for a host of publications as well as brands such as Boursin Cheese and Kim Crawford Wine, and in 2018, she published her first cookbook, Just Married. In 2020—at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic—Caro began sharing her recipes and connecting with home cooks on Instagram (@carochambers ), and launched her newsletter, What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking, which flew to the top of the Substack charts; her podcast, So Into That, followed in 2023. Caro's latest cookbook, What To Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking, is available for pre-order and will be out on August 13, 2024. Caro lives in Carmel Valley, California, with her husband, George, and their three young sons, Mattis, Calum, and Cashel—one of whom can almost always be found in the kitchen on her hip.

Figuring out how to follow your own dreams while respecting your family’s wishes can feel like a hard thing to do. But what if it doesn’t have to be that way? Are you living the life you truly want, or the one others expect from you?

-Start Setting Boundaries for Healthier Relationships
Setting boundaries is key to building healthier relationships with your parents while still being true to yourself. What are some simple steps you can take to start creating these boundaries?

-Shift Your Mindset to Break Free from Old Cycles

  • Everyone Is Overwhelmed and Burnt Out: How to Overcome It w/ Michelle Grosser
    Aug 15 2024

Let’s face it, in today’s world, so many things make life stressful. But our bodies weren’t designed to be in a state of stress, all the time. We’re supposed to metabolize our stress and move through it.

The problem is, instead of facing a stressful situation every few months, we’re experiencing stress daily, so we can’t cycle through it and return to a baseline level of stress.

That’s why so many people are struggling with overwhelm and burnout.

BossMoms have more on their plates than anyone else on the planet, so we’re more prone to burnout and overwhelm. Cue the waking up tired, the brain fog, feeling unmotivated and crying in the shower. We’re living on the edge of what we can handle, and our brains constantly feel like they are under threat.

How do we identify overwhelm and burnout and bring ourselves out of it? In this episode, I’m joined by attorney, pastor, Nervous System Expert, and Certified Master Life Coach, Michelle Grosser. She shares the science behind our overwhelm epidemic, and the body-based tools that will bring us out of it.

"Our bodies are supposed to metabolize stress and close the loop so we can come back to a baseline stress level. Because we’re under all chronic stress, our bodies aren’t able to close that stress loop. That’s why there’s so much overwhelm and burnout."
    -Michelle Grosser

3 Things You’ll Learn in This Episode

-The neuroscience of burnout and overwhelm

Our bodies are designed to metabolize and move through stress. How do our lives make that hard to do?

-Don’t max out your stress hard drive

In a world full of friction, it’s impossible to expect a frictionless existence. What’s the difference between the normal stresses of life and being way over the capacity of what we can handle?

-Regulate your nervous system in 60-90 seconds

As moms and business owners, there’s always something going on and it can leave us feeling overwhelmed in the moment. How can something as simple as a temperature change get us out of that?

    Guest Bio

Michelle is an attorney, pastor, Nervous System Expert, Certified Master Life Coach, and host of The Calm Mom Podcast. Through somatic and neuroscience-based modalities, she coaches women through discovering what’s beneath their triggers and emotions, so they can begin their healing journey and find peace in the present. She deeply believes that the most profound thing we can offer our children is our own healing. She and her husband Jeff have two daughters and live in Miami, FL.
