It’s our 18th episode and it's only fitting that we’re talkin’ golf! In this episode we’re chronicling the career of John Daly, one of the most colorful characters in the history of the sport. We discuss what makes the Diet Coke drinkin', cigarette-smokin', Loudmouth wearin' golfer such a beloved figure in the game. 

From humble beginnings in Dardanelle, Arkansas, John Daly had a natural talent for the game.  When he burst on to the scene in 1991, he resonated with regular working class people almost overnight.

Driving the ball longer than anyone else at the time, John attracted a new demographic to the sport that had never been seen before. His "Grip it and Rip it" attitude would make him a fan favorite but his antics both on and off the course would lead to a turbulent career throughout the decade. 

We're covering the highs and the lows, as well as his experience playing against a scrawny kid with a funny first name. We also discuss his music career and why he is forever indebted to Arnold Palmer.

By the age of 20, Monica Seles was the #1 ranked player in the world. Her unique style of play and vocal intonations on the court made her a captivating pop culture phenomenon, with fans like Johnny Carson and Jerry Seinfeld. But on April 30, 1993, it would be a fan of one of her biggest rivals that would change the trajectory of her career and the tennis world forever.

In this episode, we chronicle the legendary career of Tennis Hall of Famer, Monica Seles. From her development as an amateur at the Bollettieri academy, to winning her first 6 grand slam finals as a professional, few have had as dominating a start in the history of the sport. We cover her meteoric rise to the top, some her greatest matches along the way, and that fateful day in Germany that would change everything from that day forward. If it weren’t for this incident, would Monica have been the greatest female tennis player ever? Would she have the most grand slam titles?

Long before he was selling millions of grills, a hamburger loving George Foreman surprised many in April of 1991. Proving that age is just a number, the 42 year-old Foreman sought to reclaim the Heavyweight title after being retired for 10 years against the 28 year-old champion, Evander Holyfield.

We discuss the careers of both boxers leading up to the fight, including their Olympic Medals, the most infamous call in boxing history, and the fight in Zaire with Muhammad Ali that transcended sports.

This highly anticipated match had many celebrities making their predictions for the fight, including one notable athlete who predicted a biscuit would win the bout. The sporting world underestimated the older Foreman, but as you'll hear this fight was just a precursor of what was to come from George Foreman in the 90's.

In this episode we’re taking you back to April 1991 as we chronicle Duke’s rise to prominence. We’ll be talking about Mike Krzyzewski's humble beginnings in Chicago, his time in the U.S. Army, his first few seasons coaching Duke, and this historic national championship run.

After 4 straight final four appearances and a devastating 30 point loss in the national championship game to UNLV the previous year, Duke was determined to finally win the big one. Christian Laettner and Bobby Hurley were joined by freshman phenom Grant Hill, who helped lead them to an undefeated regular season at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

We also discuss what happened in the world that week, and in our usual segment, we compare the Top 5 college basketball coaches of all-time that aren’t Coach K (at least that’s what the topic was supposed to be).  We also give thanks to Lovie Smith who gave our beloved Bears the greatest gift of the season. #DABEARS Whether you love or hate The Blue Devils, we hope you have a new found respect for the name Krzyzewski, even if you're still unsure of how to spell it.

We go from one Superbowl to the next as WrestleMania VII ushers in a newwwww era in the company's history. The U.S. was still fresh into the war in Iraq, and to capitalize on the current climate, Vince McMahon cooked up a main event like no other: "Super-Stars and Stripes Forever" brother! Sgt. Slaughter, an Iraqi  sympathizer and WWF Champion vs. Hulk Hogan, The All-American hero and face of the company. In a match that symbolized the real world state of affairs, tensions were pabable throughout Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena among the 16,000+ in attendance. 

The event also featured some memorable firsts, including the start of The Undertaker's remarkable streak, the first ever "blindfold match," and the first-ever "retirement match" between Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior. This night also marked the last televised match of the original Hart Foundation and a plethora of tag-team matches from some of the greatest duos to ever step inside the "squared circle." What a ruuuussshhh!

With legendary commentary led by Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan, and "Mean Gene" Okerland, the pay-per-view broadcast saw some notable celebrities in attendance, which we detail in depth as well.

And since this is the last episode before the holiday break, we compare and contrast our favorite Christmas movies in our new segment, "The Top 5."

After a much needed break, we’re back for season 2 and kicking things off in 1991 with Super Bowl XXV.  The Buffalo Bills & New York Giants face each other in a Super Bowl that had a patriotic backdrop and a national anthem no one will ever forget. With the US entering the Gulf War, tensions were high at home and abroad. In front of over 73,000 fans there were several lead changes, no turnovers, and 2 legendary head coaches in a game that came down to the final seconds. We break down the contrasting styles of the Bill & Giants, the nostalgic commercials of the era, and the unique halftime show that made the NFL up their halftime game. We talk about what happened in the world that week, continuing our segment from season 1.

Since this is considered by many to be one of the greatest super bowls ever, it inspired a new segment on the show called the Top 5 where we compare our greatest Super Bowls that Da bears haven’t won. #dabears
