  • Wellness with Elise Marie Collins and Ellen Khalifa 8-8-24
    Dec 14 2024

Continuing with our recognition of August as National Wellness Month, our guests shared their observations on taking small actionable steps for behavioral change, as well as on being experimental (and brave!) in exploring the options that will best work for YOUR needs.

Recorded on August 8, 2024, this episode is part of the Fitness and Wellness Series. Speakers are listed in order of appearance.

Ellen Khalifa, Habits Coach for Healthspan & Wellspan, highlighted that while aging and wellness are interconnected, the focus should shift from “what and why” to “how.” Small, incremental changes have been proven to create significant impact, and a positive mindset about aging has been shown to extend life expectancy by seven years. Ellen advocated for celebrating small wins and maintaining a proactive attitude toward change.

Elise Marie Collins, Gerontologist, Yoga Teacher, Author, and President of the Women's National Book Association - WNBA, underscored the importance of moving from treatment to prevention. She encouraged exploring diverse wellness modalities, embracing gratitude for health, and finding balance through self-care. Elise also discussed the “Blue Zones,” emphasizing green spaces and healthy environments as vital for wellness. She reminded caregivers of the necessity to “fill their cups” to better support others.
