Why is the term, "Think Outside the Box" the most over used business hyperbole? We're admonished to do it without being told "How" exactly to think outside the box. This book is about the "How." I call this Ideation: a methodology for more expansively and differently about problems. The book how to activate your brain in a different manner that allows for more intuitive, creative problem solving that you can apply to both your personal life as well as your professional life. During the 200 interviews I conducted during the research phase of the book, I discovered that many of my participants were "stuck" in some part of their lives. This methodology is particularly helpful for offering insight and awareness into problems where there has not been much progress. I was one of those who was "stuck" twenty years ago and learned a version of this methodology based in psychology that helped me overcome the problem. Years later I turned this process into a tool that could be used to solve those tough personal and professional problems. It proved to be a very easy and effective process. The 200 interviews I conducted proved that this process worked for others as well as for me. This work eventually resulted in the book published by Simon & Schuster. The process of tapping into the right brain is based on Dr. Roger Sperry's Nobel Prize winning discovery in 1981 about the independence of consciousness between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. The best part--I could do so "on demand" and not wait for inspiration and intuition to strike. I can honestly say learning this process revolutionized my life. Atria Books, a Division of Simon and Schuster published the revised and updated version in August of 2014. The update explains how organizations can be more effective in boosting creativity and innovation in the workplace by using Ideation sessions that invoke both sides of the brain. I invite you to take the plunge to discover this simple, easy to apply methodology that's been applied successfully for decades to the art and therapeutic worlds. Unlock your inner genius. So, when Bill Donius began talking to me about brain function and the employment of exercises involving the nondominant hand and the engagement of the right brain, I regarded it as well-intentioned baloney. However, as my left hand writing became more legible and liberated, I began to have the strength and the grit to clear obstacles to a creative enterprise I'd avoided starting all my adult life. Although the obstacles put in place by the this remain, it is because of the ideas and exercises offered in Thought Revolution that I nowadays have the gumption to work to clear them. To any reader ridden with the what ifs and the I cannots, I recommend Thought Revolution without a doubt. With stars. --ROBERT W. DUFFY, ASSOCIATE EDITOR, ST. LOUIS BEACON >After doing all the exercises in Part Two of this book, I can attest that Bill's book delivers on its promise: You can change the way you think and find your truth in whatever challenges you. Whether you are recovering from a trauma, grappling with a life-altering decision, fighting to lose weight, or searching for a romantic relationship, Thought Revolution will take you on a journey that will set you free. --Lucia Capacchione, Ph.D., ATR (Art Therapist Registered), and author of Recovery of Your Inner Child and The Power of the Other Hand FULL AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY: William A.
