I am a native of Southern Illinois and very proud of my heritage. I was born in a tiny little town along the Ohio River and lived in Southern Illinois for most of my youth and young adulthood. Over the past six-plus decades, I have lived an interesting and rewarding life, and I have been honored to interact with U.S. Presidents and Ambassadors, Gemini, Apollo, and space shuttle astronauts, Fortune 500 CEOs, billionaires, movie stars, television pioneers, musical icons, and ... most impressive to me ... some great, kind, caring, everyday people. I write from the heart and share my thoughts in a simple, easy-reading way that includes a little of my humor (at least I hope it's funny) and a general sense of casual conversation. Perhaps my writing (and reading) style is influenced by the fact that I am legally blind and find reading certain things a task, rather than a joy. When someone reads one of my books, I want them to feel as though they're sitting on the front porch of an old farmhouse, rocking back and forth in an old ladder-back rocking chair, and having a quiet conversation with a friend, while sipping a glass of sweet tea and waiting for the blackberry cobbler to finish baking.
