Dolores Maaike Dolores Maaike is a black independent publisher of Dutch origin, born and raised in the United States. She’s from Birmingham, Alabama, a historic scene of the struggles for the civil rights of African Americans. She graduated from the University of Auburn. Her thesis was on her hometown’s civil rights movement between the 1950s and 1960s, which reached extreme levels of agitation and drew the attention of the national and international press. Maaike’s thesis earned the praise of the Rector and the entire faculty. During her university studies, she founded a theater school, or as she likes to call it a "theater family," where she welcomed and helped disadvantaged young people, including victims of physical, and psychological abuse, and discrimination. The project was very successful and is being replicated in various Alabamian cities. To date, there are more than 2500 children who have benefited from this assistance. She became known for championing her causes, mainly in her home state. Currently, she participates in several local talk shows and writes various articles for regional and national newspapers. After debuting in a very small role in a comedy called “The Love,” she was inspired to fight for all women of color, becoming a scholar and historian of the entire black movement worldwide. Due to the succession of numerous episodes of violence and systemic racism that have recently hit the United States, Dolores has become active in the Black Lives Matters movement. As an activist, she has helped many black women who, due to society and racism, had lost the desire to fight for their rights and, above all, to rediscover themselves as a woman, appreciated and loved by their partner. Over the years, through her various initiatives, Dolores has worked alongside several black women, who have become true mentors in the service of other women in need. She decided to share her experience and her knowledge on the subject through her writing and research by founding a dedicated publishing company. Her books have been translated into four languages: English, Dutch, German and French. Dolores lives with her husband and several farm animals in a large house in the outskirts of Birmingham, and constantly hosts single mothers in need, helping them find their own path in life.
