Mike Redstone is elated when his small accounting firm lands a contract with a trendy Los Angeles tech company. As he goes to work for his new client, the twin suicide and drug epidemics sweeping Los Angeles are little more than regrettable distractions. But Redstone’s enthusiasm turns to confusion, and then fear, as he reluctantly realizes that his new client is at the center of a plot to subjugate his city, trapping its population in a web of drug-suffused thought control.

After Redstone’s attempt to expose the conspirators uncovers an even wider web of sedition, the power structure of Los Angeles and beyond turns against him. Alone and abandoned, Mike once more must look to his own resources. With old and new friends and allies, he again sets out with amateur enthusiasm to disrupt the evil plans of powerful elites who seek not only the subjugation of his beloved California, but the certain death of Redstone and his friends.
