They suffer from these disorders throughout the relationship, as well as after the relationship ends. Some people expect almost immediately relief after the narcissist moves on from the relationship, but this is often not the case.

The narcissist cannot help but be a negativist. Most of his life was taken away from him by someone else who was domineering, over-protective, smothering, aloof, depressed, or self-indulgent. His mother or his father didn't think to teach him much of anything. He feels deprived at being sent out in the world, completely unprepared as to how to go about much of anything. The narcissist is a negativist because he dislikes his perceived inability to control the 'play' that he is a part of.
