When the Alpha Centauri I crew set out for Proxima b, they were full of hope, purpose, and a sense of adventure. Their goal: to explore the closest planet with potential to sustain human life. Helge Seth Nielsen voksede op i 1960'erne i den blomstrende forstadsby Albertslund. Allerede som helt ung røg han hash, tog LSD og levede et liv med mere end almindeligt meget fart på. Den utilpassede dreng røg ind og ud af ungdomsfaengslerne og mønsteret fortsatte i voksenlivet. Tyverier, indbrud, handel med stoffer og våben, listen var uendelig. Det vilde liv kulminerede en efterårsnat i 1985, hvor Seth sad på bagsaedet af en taxa og manglede penge.
