Criminals have disappeared from around the world, and magic has been proven to the masses. But that is just the backdrop. Hale, the light magic type, has been asked by Death to help find his apprentice. He agrees, only to find that he would have had to help anyway, as his girlfriend has been kidnapped by the same people. The search will lead to an old battlefield that will be new to him.

It came to pass that a moment of frustration would see the light give in to a demon. That in a single lack of restraint, that the world would change forever. That is the world Hale, the light magic type, awoke to. One hundred years had passed since he lost control to Hayloskien. Now he must sort out the mess left for him in the wake of Hayloskien.

What's worse than an unstoppable disease? What about one that brainwashes the host? One that makes them but one zombie in the horde. What if you would be none the wiser until you yourself were infected? How about if you and a group of friends tried to stop it, just to be cryogenically frozen until a cure was found. Then thawed out and told to distribute the cure?

Anger gives way to vengeance and then war. Rywho, who is now Death, has declared war on the living. What is it exactly he hopes to accomplish? What point is there to fight for those who earned their death? To what end does he intend to go?

From his capture to his fall from the tower of Nute, Rywho's vengeance has taken a bit of a detour. His power and his identity as the apprentice of Death are at risk. As he's slowly being taken by the creeping of the binder serpent, can he get revenge for his master before he is reduced to a memory?
