Exploring the mysterious tunnels under their grandfather's house on Hoarder Hill, Hedy and Spencer discover the Fantastikhana, an underground tournament of magic. Here they find a group of powerful magicians called the Sleight and a mysterious living map, which tattoos itself onto Hedy's skin and seems to be directing her further underground. And so an extraordinary treasure hunt begins.

When Hedy and Spencer start receiving messages on dusty picture frames, Christmas at their grandfather's spooky house turns into a mission to solve the mystery of their grandmother's disappearance. What is their magician grandfather not telling them? With the help of a (talking) mounted stag head, an (also talking) bear rug and other (currently) disembodied spirits, and against the resistance of gargoyles and ravens, Hedy and Spencer set out to find the truth.

Cuando Spencer y Hedy comienzan a recibir mensajes que se escriben por sí solos sobre el polvo de un portarretratos, pasar Navidad en la espeluznante casa de su abuelo se convierte en una misión: resolver la misteriosa desaparición de la abuela. ¿Acaso el abuelo John, un mago retirado, les oculta algo? Allí conocen a los Prestidigitadores, un grupo de poderosos magos que tienen asuntos sin resolver con el abuelo John. Así, lo que parecía un divertido viaje de fin de semana, en realidad será parte de un plan para encontrar el Telar de Verdandi, un aparato capaz de manipular el tiempo y que ha permanecido oculto por años.
