The stories told in the Appalachian Mountains are often thought of as superstition, but the old saying, where there's smoke, there's fire, is sometimes very true. The Old Cherokee had many legends and beliefs. One of these was about the Raven Mocker, whose name should never be spoken aloud. So many have disappeared along the trails and within the mountains and hills and even the valleys of East Tennessee. This is one story......

Bobbi vanished sometime last night. It is the year of 2034. People are vanished for disagreeing, for not following the rules. And there are many rules here in Washington DC State in UPNA, the United People of New America. This is science fiction, now. It is a shout into the wind, a small voice trying to be heard. Until the building of the South Holston Dam reined in the water, the Holston River was untamed. Before the time of the dam, battles and deaths up and down this stretch of water caused the river to flow with blood. The river was always known as dangerous, but even more so when it was in its flooding stage. When these deaths occurred, there was one family who for over two hundred years, were the watchers for the river, calling the hounds for bad souls and praying for the angels when there were good souls.
