For years, the biggest threat that Yellowstone was thought to offer was in the form of its semi-dormant super volcano. Little did anyone realize the threat was real and slowly working its way to the surface, but not in the form of magma. Lying deep within the bowels of the Earth itself, an ancient virus waited. Hatcher and his community of survivors attempt to recover from a devastating and well-coordinated attack from the Zulus. With their home burned and their infrastructure failing, they branch out looking for a new place that they can defend. A place that they can call home. The CDC researchers discover that their cure was not what they thought. As the first to be exposed begin to change into something else, they worry that they’ve doomed what is left of humanity to a fate worse than death.

Hatcher and his colony of survivors continue to hack out their place in an uncertain world. They cling to hope, as new lives are created and old ones struggle to rebuild the world that once was. Government researchers have released a cure in a last-ditch effort to save those infected with the rage virus. Humanity’s future lies with a genetically modified bacteria being spread across the globe.
