The second book of the Gem Trader Adventures recounts the beginning of a new business model - selling gemstones on the Internet. Will people buy gems online? Edward and Lizzy dare to try. Merging their money and their abilities, they acquire a suitcase full of gems, and, in complete secrecy, start a website from Lizzy's beach house in Kenya.

The Renaissance is dawning over Europe. Ideas of freedom and science shake the foundations of medieval society. Demuth, the successful but eccentric apothecary of a small village in the German mountains, knows little about these developments...until she is forced to flee from a witch hunt and must leave her protected life for good.

On his day off, gem trader Edward Bristol enjoys the sunrise on an African beach. Until a mobile rings in the sand. Somebody must have lost their phone in the night. Edward answers, not suspecting that the caller will ruin his day. Soon after, he is kidnapped, escapes into the savanna, but again is hunted down and finally swept up in revolution, corruption and international deal making.
