Vi’s favourite escape from the world is the role playing game Twelfth Knight, but online spaces aren’t exactly kind to girls like her – girls who are extremely competent and have the swagger to prove it. So Vi creates a masculine alter ego, choosing to play as a knight named Cesario.

Nerds sind heiß. Besonders Nerds, die Kampfroboter bauen! Bel würde lieber sterben, als Pläne für ihre Zukunft zu schmieden. Sich mit der College-Zulassung beschäftigen? Ha ha. Außerschulische Aktivitäten? Nie im Leben! Dann jedoch erkennt ihre Physiklehrerin ihre Begabung für Maschinenbau und steckt Bel kurzerhand ins Robotik-Team. Schlimmer: Die Jungs dort beachten Bel gar nicht, und Neelam, das einzige andere Mädchen im Team, kann sie offenbar ebenfalls nicht ausstehen. Da ist allerdings noch Mateo Luna, der Teamkapitän, der in Bel ein Potenzial zu sehen scheint.
