Susie reviews Catherine Millet's much talked about new memoir, The Sexual Life of Catherine M. Susie goes down memory lane and looks back at the heyday of these really cool, but so inconvenient, beds.

Susie begins today's show with a look at why Pfc Bradley Manning's announcement that "I am a female" and that she will seek hormone replacement therapy is not so surprising. After being sentenced to 35 years in prison for leaking government files, Manning made the not-so-shocking announcement about her transition and new name: Chelsea. Susie points out that many people are taking hormones and asks what all the uproar is over Manning requesting some while in prison.

Impressionist art from one of the masters of all time has a really intriguing back story. Susie looks at the life of Edgar Degas and how his sexuality informed his famous ballet dancer paintings. Degas captures their grace and discipline, but a new book reveals the dancers real lives and how Degas captured their beauty and hid their pain. Ballerina: Sex, Scandal and Suffering Behind the Symbol of Perfection by Deirdre Kelly inspired Susie to think about Degas' own erotic identity. He was a masochist, femme and repressed....

Susie starts off today's show with a look at the birth-control debate gone wild.Guess where. Yup, it's happening down in Texas, where the state legislators and the governor are destroying birth control and abortion access. Susie says they are not alone in their draconian measures, but the size and disenfranchisement of the affected population is vast. Their puritan ideas on women's health are truly scary.

This week's show kicks off Susie's San Francisco interview series. First up is Veronica Monet, a prostitute who is also an avowed feminist, a loving wife, and a professional speaker. Veronica talks with Susie about how she got into hooking, why she stays in it, and what she's learned. She also shares her list of etiquette tips when calling an escort service. And, in this week's Try This at Home mailbag, Susie answers a man who wants to hang out in the nude (with others) before he dies.

Don't you love The Onion? It's full of fun spoofs that can sometimes be all-too realistic. Susie found a recent Onion article entitled "If You Wish to Be a Writer, Have Sex with Someone Who Works in Publishing". Susie loves it and she laughs along as she reads the "sincere" advice for young writers, which includes establishing a daily routine involving many ways to have sex with a publisher. If you have writers block, says the article, just move on, find a different person to sleep with, and your slump may improve!

A new feature on Amazon recently led Susie to a funny case of mistaken identity. In a book about traveling through Japan (William Ferguson's "The Highway to Hokkaido") someone named Susie Bright is mentioned teaching ESL through Porn. Then, Susie talks about her new toy, "The Slightest Touch" aka the Orgasmatron. It's an electrical device designed to help women overcome "the arousal gap." Then in her mailbag, Susie talks about sex after conception and what it takes to be the perfect gigolo.

Susie starts off today's show with a technology article from Popular Science. The topic: UK Prime Minister David Cameron's proposed anti-pornography plan. He wants stricter filters for search engines, because he believes that many children are viewing porn online. Cameron believes that a "family filter" set up by his government can solve the problem and promises to do "whatever it takes to keep our children safe." Susie reads from the story and finds so many holes in this absurd plan.

Susie spends the entire show with her guest Daniel Bergner. His just-released book What Do Women Want? is on the New York Times best-seller list. The book is subtitled Adventures in the Science of Female Desire and it disrupts the typical idea that women are more monogamous then men. His research looks at women's desire and arousal, and he turns the tables on conventional thought. Susie and Daniel talk about why women aren't seen as animalistic, whether research takes into consideration sexual politics, and female erotic fantasy and lust.

This week, Susie celebrates the publication of her new collection Three The Hard Way – three erotic novellas by William Harrison, Greg Boyd, and Tsaurah Litsky.
