  • Case 171: St Valentine's Day Massacre - Cold blooded Murder leaves its Mark
    Feb 13 2025

Hi and Welcome to the latest episode of the True Hauntings Podcast.

In this episode we go back the the days of mobsters, gangs, violence and corruption.

What's has changed you may well ask?!!

and Happy Valentine's Day Lovers - we picked this episode's topic just for you!

The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre stunned the world back in 1929 when news broke out about a brutal mass murder on Chicago's North Side.

During that time Chicago's streets were dominated by gang conflicts, with notorious mob boss Al Capone working to grab more power, by eliminating rivals involved in bootlegging, gambling, and prostitution.

This wave of violence reached a gruesome peak on February 14, 1929, in a garage on the city's North Side. Seven men linked to Irish gangster George “Bugs” Moran, one of Capone's long-standing adversaries, were gunned down by men disguised as police officers.

Could this act of violence leave an imprint so heavy that it is still felt almost 100 years later?

We look at Valentine’s Day from a paranormal perspective.

There seems to be a trail of ghosts and spooky activity that haunt the sites associated with the February 14th massacre in Chicago.

Let’s look into some of the history and the ghost stories and experiences people have had in the places where it happened and see if we can separate fact from fiction.

  • Case 169: La Laurie Mansion New Orleans
    Jan 16 2025

Welcome to the True Hauntings Podcast with Anne and Renata

“Allow me to quote the facts to you, because you could not believe them if they were not confirmed to you by sufficient authority…

I never saw a more horrible spectacle!

The dislocated heads, the legs torn by the chains, the bodies streaked [with blood] from head to foot from whiplashes and sharp instruments…

when [the slaves] were discovered, they were already devoured by maggots.”

An excerpt from Carolyn Morrow Long’s book, Madame LaLaurie, Mistress of the Haunted House.

Situated at the corner of Royal Street and Governor Nicholls Street stands a notorious three-story antebellum mansion that has drawn the fascination of countless tourists, filmmakers, and even a Hollywood celebrity.

This stately Empire-style residence, located at 1140 Royal Street in New Orleans, was once the home of Delphine Macarty LaLaurie.

Widely regarded as one of the most haunted sites in the city, the mansion's dark history is tied to its infamous owner, a wealthy socialite described as a "demon in the guise of a woman" for her alleged acts of horrific cruelty toward enslaved individuals during her time there.

In this episode we are putting in a warning that it will contain historic information regarding treatment of the enslaved that may be too disturbing for some people.

Please continue listening to this episode at your own discretion as we head to the French Quarter in New Orleans to gather information about the truth behind the stories of the infamous La Laurie Mansion and Madame Delphine.

Was she as despicable as history has us believe?

We hope you enjoy this episode and share it with your friends.

These two ladies made my long train trip go fast 😅

This podcast offers a good balance between interesting historical facts on the alleged ghostly haunted sites they review and the paranormal claims. Love the humour throughout each episode and had me stifling giggles when travelling on a train for 13hrs. I am hooked.
