After withdrawing from opiates in a Fort Worth hotel room, Chris Monroe vowed to never take another pain pill. And he didn't - but he fell into a deep depression and turned to another drug to try to pull himself out of his mental state.

"Methamphetamine became the sole center of my existence," he said. "It became a ritual." Chris eventually started selling meth to make sure he had meth. One day, he was arrested for what he believed was a probation violation for a petty shoplifting charge but instead found himself in federal custody.
