The Millennial Leader

By: Chuck Lane & Cory Concus
  • Summary

  • Are you a Millennial who is struggling to find relevant professional and personal advice amongst the noise of influencers or out-of-touch talking heads? If so, welcome to the show!

We’re your hosts, Chuck and Cory. Two guys that married sisters, became friends, found some success in our careers, and have never been quite content with being told "that's just how it is".

We’ve had some interesting jobs in industries like education, healthcare, emergency management, consulting, and construction. We've built programs, lead diverse teams, and while it hasn’t always been easy, we’ve learned a good bit along the way.

But why a podcast? Well, amidst the late-night, random conversations we found a shared passion for self-improvement and a desire to help others. We wanted to talk about topics relevant to our generation. From navigating the corporate ladder without losing your soul to mastering the art of work-life balance (or at least, attempting to), all the way to random topics that we find interesting, we’ve got you covered.

If you're tired of the same old leadership podcasts and LinkedIn posts with tone-deaf advice, then you've come to the right place. New episodes drop each week on all the platforms you enjoy and on one you probably don't!

Do our successes and failures define who we are or is there more to it?

Identity, self-worth, imposter syndrome, and comparison of success and lifestyle have had a major impact on the mental health of Millennials, and it seems to be even higher for Gen Z. Whether at work, in our peer groups, or on social media we all compare ourselves and have idea about who we want to and don't want to be. In this episode we are breaking down some of our thoughts for how to manage those feelings of comparison and how we can better separate our ideas from our true identity.

  • Why Don't Millennials Want to Lead?
    Mar 21 2024

Millennials are now the largest generation in the US, and in the workforce, but we aren't pursuing leadership roles or advancement. An entire generation of people have almost entirely collectively said "No thanks". In this initial episode we are discussing how the winds of change are redefining leadership among millennials and Gen Z. We strip back the layers on the 'big lie' of education guaranteeing wealth and stability, revealing the stark contrast between this outdated promise and the real economic challenges faced today.
