• The Beauty Of Homeschooling!
    May 31 2024

I decided to close SEASON ONE with a topic that is very dear to my heart, that topic being HOMESCHOOLING! But what made this episode even more special for me is the fact that I recorded it with one of the most special people in my life who I’m happy to call my Companion. There’s something to be said about the friends you make in your adulthood, but there’s even more to be said when you share the same personal, professional, and spiritual values with those friends. Umsumayah has been a breath of fresh air in my life, and words cannot describe the value she adds to my life on a regular basis.

We connected over homeschooling our children, but a true sisterhood came out of that encounter that I will forever cherish. I have learned so much from her by simply watching her be her authentic self in anything and everything she does in her life. More importantly, by putting Allah in the center of her world. I hope you all enjoy this episode as much as we did recording it. Going down memory lane on our homeschooling journey was a really monumental moment for me. Homeschooling has forever changed my life and my children’s life, and I’m incredibly thankful to Allah for allowing me and my children to experience the homeschooling life.

  • How Can We Make This World A Better Place?
    May 17 2024

This is a very special episode for me in the sense of sitting with someone I have known my whole life and have talked to about this podcast for as long as I can remember. The world knows him as DTM, but I know him as "Koto Thierno" He is not only my brother, but he truly is my best friend, my mentor, and my lifetime advisor. Which simply means he can give me advice on anything and everything. I think we all need a Koto Thierno in our lives if you ask me!!! We all need someone we can count on at every stage of life, and I know that's a BIG ask, but that's who DTM is to me. And I'm forever grateful to Allah for this beautiful blessing, and will forever cherish our incredible relationship.

In this episode DTM and I discussed the importance of making this world a better place, and how important it is for us to do the best we can with the little that we have. We all have our own definition of being happy, rich, or famous! However, DTM's definition of these three things is within the parameters of understanding who you really are, and why you are here. DTM believes you can't make this world a better place without knowing yourself first, your purpose, and understanding the message behind every situation you come across, and why. Once you figure that part out, making this world a better place will come easy, and so will everything else.

  • A Friendship Of 15 Years In The Making !!!
    Apr 26 2024

Islam places great emphasis on friendship, especially friendships that are rooted in the remembrance and love of Allah. Since our friends influence us greatly, we should select those people who remind us of Allah. This episode with Fatou is very special to me for many reasons, for one, the episode was recorded in her living room, and two I flew to Boston just to have this sit down with her, that's how special she is to me, and how important our friendship is to me.

In this episode, Fatou and I discussed our definition of friendship, and our friendship deal-breakers, as well as the different qualities we both look for in a friend. I'm a firm believer that you are the average of your five closest friends. And I also believe that our children are watching the friends that we keep. The greatest indicator of what their friends will be and the types of relationships that they will have.

Fatou and I also discussed how important it is for us to pass down some of our friendship traditions to our children, just like our parents did, and are still doing for us. it's one thing to have a friendship with someone, it's another thing to see your family befriend that person and commit to the friendship as much as you do. This is a friendship that means the world to both of us, and my hopes and prayers are that Allah continues to strengthen our relationship for the better, may we continue to model this Incredible friendship for our children. Ameen!!!

  • An Amazing Conversation With The SWYK Producer!
    Mar 1 2024

Anytime I watch an episode or a clip from the SWYK podcast, my mind goes back to the early days when Saliou and I were planning, and conceptualizing this whole idea, and figuring out different ways to bring SWYK to life. I say all of this to say that I wouldn’t have had a podcast to share with you all without the help and support of my little brother Saliou.

In this episode, Saliou and I dive deeper into what we think our True callings are. I mean who to better have this conversation with other than my brother who has known me his entire life, and whom I’ve known since he was born? Let me just say that this conversation is one for the books for me. I enjoyed every aspect of it, and I was moved by every single word that came out of his mouth. I mean feeling inspired after this sit down with my brother is an understatement.

I hope that you find this conversation as inspirational as I did. I’m a true believer that God has gifted us all with unique talents that are specifically unique to us personally. And if you have never thought of what your purpose or your true calling is, I think this episode will help you dig deep to find what that is for you. And if you do already know what your calling is, then I pray that you do something with it that can you, your family, and your community here, and in the hereafter.
