Rich & Balanced | Guest - Ryan Shields
Season One, Episode Ten | Real Estate Coffee Shop Podcast

In this episode of the "Real Estate Coffee Shop Podcast", our guest is Ryan Shields, a REALTOR® at the Shields Group at Royal LePage Martin Liberty in Brandon, Manitoba.

Ryan is very adamant that if you want to grow your real estate business … you should be looking to the past and not to the future. In his words, a profitable and balanced business won’t come from a shiny new piece of tech or the latest lead-generating site … instead, it will come from the meaningful relationships fostered with your past clients.

We dig into how he keeps in contact with his database throughout the year, the success of his large and small client gatherings and the piece of tech that had a massive transformation in how he communicates with his sphere.

In this week’s “Bean There, Done That”, Ryan spills the beans on how agents can survive and thrive in this changing market.

This week’s mentioned news article … “BCREA forecasts steep decline in home sales.”

The interviews, masterminds and chats over coffee I’ve had with some of the brightest minds in the real estate industry have had an enormous impact on my 29-year real estate career. In this Podcast, I invite you to pull up a chair and join my guests and me as we discuss a wide range of real estate topics.

Long Black Tech Stack | Guest - Peter Schravemade
Season One, Episode Nine | Real Estate Coffee Shop Podcast

In this episode of the "Real Estate Coffee Shop Podcast", our guest is Peter Schravemade, who is the Managing Partner for REACH ASEA.

Peter Schravemade is perhaps best known for his ability to identify impactful real estate trends and discard time-consuming fleeting fads. We start our chat by having Peter rank his “Top 5” opportunities that REALTORS® might be missing in their marketing. For the main part of our conversation, Peter shares his views on how real estate, in particular, is an industry that can get a massive boost from the latest tech. He explains how an intentional approach to an agent’s “tech stack” will automate, streamline, and speed up an agent’s business.

There are few people that focus on emerging real estate tech more than this week’s guest. Peter tells me why he is most excited about companies like Openn, which is a part of REACH Canada’s portfolio.

In this week’s “Bean There, Done That”, Peter spills the beans on what he wishes he could change about the real estate industry.

Season One, Episode Eight | Real Estate Coffee Shop Podcast

In this episode of the "Real Estate Coffee Shop Podcast", our guest is Lauren Goché who is a REALTOR® at Think Real Estate in Portland, Oregon.

My conversation with Lauren Goché went 180 degrees from where I thought it would go and that’s exactly what the Real Estate Coffee House podcast is all about. For almost 29 years I have approached agent-to-agent referrals one way. Minutes into my chat with Lauren, I realized that our team has been missing out on an entirely new income stream that also puts our industry's professionalism on display. My reaction to this conversation was 🤯 … I hope it is for you too.

In this week’s “Bean There, Done That” Lauren spills the beans on that activity that gives her the best ROI of her time and dollars.

This week’s mentioned article … “Enter: Stage Right”.

Bold Culture | Guest - Lisa Craik
Season One, Episode Seven | Real Estate Coffee Shop Podcast

In this episode of the "Real Estate Coffee Shop Podcast", our guest is Lisa Craik the Director of Operations, Marketing & Realtor Relations at RE/MAX LifeStyles Realty in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia.

I truly hope you find no value in this week’s episode … because that would likely mean that you are in an office with a great culture.  However, I know that will not be the case for many of you. Office culture is SO important to your success and happiness as a REALTOR®.

I’ve watched and experienced Lisa’s daily effort to cultivate and curate an amazing work environment for management, agents and staff from our office across the hall. In this episode, we discuss the impact of great and toxic office culture. We also chat about the role that individual agents have in protecting and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. Office culture doesn’t have an associated desk fee yet its influence on your productivity and happiness is significant. So … I ask Lisa how can an agent identify if they are in the wrong spot.

Every agent should be working in an office with positive office culture. If you already have it … awesome! If you don’t … go get it!

In this week’s “Bean There, Done That” Lisa spills the beans on the best business advice she has ever received.

Organic Opinions | Guest - Dave Jones
Season One, Episode Three | Real Estate Coffee Shop Podcast

In this episode of the "Real Estate Coffee Shop Podcast", our guest is Dave Jones who is the Owner/Operator at Windermere Abode in Tacoma, Washington.

I’ve done hundreds of interviews on a wide range of topics with a diverse group of people over the years. I firmly believe that the chat with Dave is one of the most enlightening and important conversations I’ve ever had.

Dave and I believe that the public knowing where you stand on the smallest and/or largest issues, as an individual and as a business, will ultimately have a positive impact on you, your “tribe”, and your community. Sharing a “well-read” opinion, as Dave says, isn’t always easy. Perhaps it’s because we focus on the potential adverse outcomes instead of the power that comes from giving a voice to those that don’t have one or are too reluctant to speak to an issue. His mindset, on sometimes divisive issues, of “both, and” instead of “either, or” is something we need to do much more of.

Here are the links to the articles we discussed in this week’s podcast.

This week’s news story … “There’s a Strong Bull Case for Metaverse Real Estate, Even as Crypto Plunges” and Dave’s article … “It's Time We Pull Back the Racist Curtain in Real Estate”.
