We are so excited to bring the first episode of our new series "people who know more than us" to you, and what a way to start.
With so much gratitude we welcome Diana Dugan Richards to our show. Diana is a registered and licensed dietician as well as an IFS certified practitioner. Diana works with clients in their relationship with food, body image, weight, and size, and creates a space where client's can be empowered to find their own philosophies around these topics. With specialties in binge eating, compulsive overeating, emotional eating, restriction and under eating, stress response eating, food anxiety, and food addiction, Diana brings so much wisdom to the way IFS can integrate in this field.
In this episode, we discuss the way parts show up to protect us in relation to food and body image. We explore the protectors that tend to come online and which exiles may be lying beneath. We discuss the ways traditional eating disorder treatment can be viewed as manager-led and the potential dangers of addressing food and bodies in that way. We also dive into the ways Diana has navigated her own system in order to create space for curiosity with clients and how that has led to her pioneering the work that combines nutrition counseling and IFS.
There is so much more we could say about what Diana brings to the community and the world, but we'll let her talk for herself; we know you'll love her as much as we do.
