Today, we are going to be talking about forms, specifically focusing on form fields and automations. In the last episode, we discussed double opt-in, single opt-in, and the different checkboxes in the form template. Let's carry on from there. Form Fields When you get to the form fields area, "Name" and "Email" will be there by default. You can add other fields from a dropdown list. It's nice to know that these default form fields, like name and email, are specifically connected to areas in Kajabi where information is kept. For example, if you go into your client profile under contacts and pick a client, you'll see a name area and an email area. These fields are accessible in other parts of Kajabi. If you're sending an email, you can use personalization options like name, email, first name, and last name, and Kajabi will pull from those fields. Custom Form Fields You can create custom fields to collect data, such as text areas, radio buttons, and checkboxes. However, custom fields are not specifically associated with data areas within Kajabi. For instance, if you create a field called "First Name" or "Last Name" and someone provides their first or last name in those fields, that information will not go into the client profile where the name is recorded. Instead, it will be stored in an "other info" spot in the client profile. Using Custom Fields If you collect a name through custom fields and then send an email using personalization, Kajabi won't recognize the name because it wasn't collected through the default fields. For example, if you collected Susie Q's name through custom fields, Kajabi won't know that her name is Susie Q. When you send an email with personalization, it will just say "Hey" without the name. Default Name Field The default name field collects both the first name and the last name. If someone enters "Susie Q," Kajabi will separate these as first and last names and put them in the right spot. You can change the name of that field to something like "Full Name" if you prefer. Automations Form fields can be really useful by adding checkboxes or radio buttons and then using that information in automations. Unfortunately, there isn't enough time to cover automations in this episode. So, the next episode will discuss automations and how you can interact with form fields to make cool things happen in Kajabi. Conclusion Who knew that forms would be such a long saga of episodes? How awesome is that? Just awesome. Tune in next time, and I will talk about the automations of the form and how you can interact with some of the form fields in the automations to make some cool things happen in Kajabi.
