    Nehemiah's Heart to Please God

We talk about the final verse in the book of Nehemiah, where Nehemiah asks God to remember him for good. We discuss how Nehemiah's heart was to please God, and how that should be our desire as well - to live a life that is faithful and pleasing to God.

Nehemiah and Ezra: Faithful Leaders Who Addressed Issues Directly

We discuss how Nehemiah and Ezra, despite the Israelites' continued mistakes, did not fail as leaders. They faithfully addressed issues based on God's word, which is what we need in leaders - whether pastors, friends, or spouses - who will confront problems directly and honestly.

Eliashib's Corruption and the Challenge of Idolatry

We talk about the interaction between Eliashib and Tobiah in the beginning of chapter 13, where Eliashib has been given the responsibility of the chambers in the temple and chooses to favor Tobiah, who has worked against Israel, by giving him a place to live in the temple. This is a physical example of idolatry, where the right things have been taken out and the wrong thing has been put in. We are challenged to examine our own hearts and lives, and ask God to show us what wrong things we may have put in place of the right things.
