  • Mastering Virtual Sales - Peter Roth
    Aug 8 2023
Solar professionals face challenges in generating leads, but innovative solutions like virtual solar appointments can help overcome these obstacles. In a podcast conversation between Jacob Jones and Peter Roth, CEO of SolarWise, they discuss the unique nature of the solar industry and the importance of understanding a home's overall energy efficiency. Peter's background in HVAC gives him a differentiation in the market. They emphasize the need for systems and standard operating procedures for long-term success, as well as the power of scripts in sales. They also discuss the significance of lead generation and automation, as well as the importance of tools and systems in maximizing success. Lastly, they introduce the concept of "Finding Green Lights" and taking action on favorable opportunities.Episode Outline:(00:00:01) The Need for Virtual Solar Appointments(00:06:06) Challenges of Virtual Solar Sales(00:11:41) The Importance of Systems(00:16:54) The Importance of Having a Script(00:22:43) The Importance of Scripting(00:28:01) The Power of Neuroemotional Persuasion(00:33:54) The Importance of Lead Generation and Automation(00:39:07) The Importance of Tools and Systems in Lead Generation(00:44:24) Finding Green LightsQuotes:(00:03:24) I saw right away that there was this huge hole in space and that there's thousands of hungry solar pros out there who need to put food on the table and have no idea how to do it.(00:08:47) Find a house for me that has solar on it. I can go rip all the panels off the house, and they wouldn't even know they're missing. They would just switch right back over to the grid. And unless they hid up there and looked at them, they would have no idea they were even gone.(00:12:38) Systems are what sets you free. If you want your time back, you better systemize the heck out of something.(00:21:35) That is your operations guy. That is your key to success. Or your whole business is the words that come out of your goddamn mouth. Write that shit down.(00:26:13) You can't get good. What do you think golfers do every day? They look at videos of themselves. That's a script. That's the same thing as a script.(00:31:11) The better you start to understand how people are persuaded, the sooner you will find great success in every aspect of your life, not just your business life. It'll make you a better communicator, it'll make you a better husband, it'll make you a better father and mother. It'll just make you a better person all around.(00:36:48) The big problem that I found that I was coming up the ladder in this industry was that I saw that all the legion companies that I was working with, they would all get you leads. And most of them were honest and most of them there was nothing wrong with the leads. The problem was that people were missing all the other components.(00:43:27) Everything that you need to know is already free on YouTube. Just go get it and just go get it. It's out there waiting for you, man.(00:44:26) Keep finding those green lights.Social Post:🚦🎙️ Introducing Green Light Theory Podcast! 🌱🎧👀 Tired of hustling without a plan? • Energize Your Business - William Geist
    Aug 1 2023
Starting a business in the solar industry can be a challenging endeavor. With the right resources and leadership in place, however, it can be a successful venture. In this podcast episode, Jacob Jones and William Geist discuss the process of transitioning from one leader to another and how to remain competitive in a down market. They also explain the importance of focusing on sales when launching a business and introduce Inversify, a platform created by Jacob Jones to standardize the solar sales process. Furthermore, they explore EPC relationships and how to make the most of the solar industry. To gain further insight into these topics, interested parties can join Solar Business Growth on August 23rd in Dallas, which will provide training on energy efficiency and more.Episode Outline:(00:00:01) Reducing Energy Costs(00:06:23) Leadership Transition(00:11:58) Diversifying in a Down Market(00:17:50) Standardizing Solar Sales(00:23:47) EPC Relationships(00:29:38) Focus on Sales(00:35:27) Solar Business GrowthQuotes:(00:01:51) We're talking hundreds of dollars a year, maybe $400, $600 a year in savings per home, depending on where they are geographically in their systems and things like that.(00:09:28) But I've gotten to the point not long ago, where it's just not possible anymore. And if the company is going to continue growing and I'm going to keep providing the opportunity and the value that I do, then I'm going to have to start building a team.(00:17:25) I think there's two important things. One is to diversify and make sure that you're going about things in a more holistic manner. For example, I tell my solar partners, you've got the solar, have the efficiency, have a few other things that you're really into. Not that you're just throwing sort of into the deal at random, but things that you're really focused on, because when(00:23:31) So I'm trying to empower these guys to be able to do that. And then the other side of it is I'm going to work on Inversify to sort of standardize the solar sale process and make it transparent such that if I'm on the EPC side.(00:28:52) Don't just sell them solar and then we never talk to them again. This is a consumer. We can sell them all kinds of cool stuff over time and so we're going to have a program that sort of does that. And so now solar becomes a residual income opportunity.(00:34:46) Focus on sales. And while it seems so simple, one of the things that I see entrepreneurs make the mistakes all the time is they are blinded by all the fancy lights, right? That, hey, I could spend my money on this, I could get this, I could get this. And all those things probably do have great value, but their problem is they try to do them all on the front end and then suffer because of it.(00:38:44) Take that time to invest in the people around you. It's the best thing that you can do.Social Post:Are you looking for ways to save money and energy? Look no further! Entrepreneurial leadership encourages collaboration, creativity, and risk-taking. Meditation and healing can help us process our experiences and heal from trauma, while sexual energy is a powerful tool for meditation that accesses deeper levels of awareness and connection. You are the heartbeat of the company. So people first, always.(00:10:59) Our systems aren't serving us and the corporate business model system in some ways isn't serving us and is calling for a revolution of its own.(00:18:07) It was that simple, but that profound to learn. It's really young.(00:20:22) But it was, like, money that I had to deposit. I went and deposited the $1,000 in my bank account. So it was three years from six to nine of that. Just laser focus on a goal. Like, I wanted a pony more than anything. That was what my heart was beating for at that point.(00:25:48) What I learned is just how do we keep our spirit alive? How do we nurture ourselves in those really dark moments? Because they come for all of us, and they tend to come in waves. And it's not there to break us. It's there to teach us how resilient we are as human beings and the power of faith and belief.(00:36:42) What I've come to know is that the word has power.(00:43:24) But one of the things that he talks about in building rapport, that deepest part of rapport is this intimacy when it's like the(00:44:49) We are created as sexual beings. It is how every single one of us got haired through a sexual act. The energy of sexual energy is our life force energy. It creates life and it doesn't have to be a sexual act.(00:53:59) Being open to that conversation as a leader and understanding it in yourself can give you the tools to spot it in others and to start to observe dynamics like you know what, I don't think that person felt safe. That's what I need to address as a business leader is that response.(00:57:05) Together we can skip these red lights in life and cruise through green light after green light after green light.Social Post:Are you looking for a podcast that will help you make better decisions and lead with empathy? Jason shared his experience of taking an underperforming sales team and turning it into a juggernaut in a short period of time, and Jacob shared his experience of traveling across the country to sell office supplies for straight commission. They discussed the importance of understanding people, having a good bedside manner, having a vision and values for a business, and having practical and tactical knowledge when starting a business. They also discussed the importance of taking the things they have learned and putting them to work, loading up one bullet and letting it fly, and saturating the knowledge by passing it on to others.Episode Outline:(00:52:01) Green Light Cruising(00:29:05) Social Intelligence in Hiring(00:17:02) Recruiting Sales Talent(00:00:00) Recruiting Jedi(00:22:49) Recruiting Traits(00:35:10) Recruiting Without Resumes(00:11:16) Ed Vegas Mentorship(00:05:21) Adapting Recruiting Strategies(00:46:38) Building a Business(00:40:40) Recruiting EmotionallyQuotes:(00:50:16) Give me the rebels, the outcasts, the wild horses, and watch what I do with them.(00:40:34) Let me tell you something. The second somebody thought about it for a second and came up with their own bring your own value, it would change everything.(00:31:52) You don't even know. This is what I woke up in the morning. I was hoping I could get a door to a sales job for a straight commission. Nobody dreams about that. But what they do dream about is finding someone who can mentor them to make them better.(00:43:46) Do you not realize that because you can attract candidates in a different manner, you can dare to be different because you don't have all that red tape.(00:52:08) Take that one bullet, load it in and let it fly. And then always saturate.(00:27:46) It's easier to focus, as you were saying, on the negatives and dwell on them. And I can't do this. I can build someone's confidence if they're willing to talk about how many times they fail.(00:01:24) I have always been attracted to sales and communicating with other people, and I've always been attracted to leadership leading from the front, behind, middle, anywhere I could. Those were things that just drove me.(00:09:14) The beautiful thing where we were allowed to do things that a lot of companies just aren't, or people that are in those hiring seats is to talk to the people that didn't have the experience and then figure out, man, can I work with them? Do they fit this culture? Do they have something intangible? Because I can train all the skills.(00:19:26) People want to buy, but they don't want to be sold, right? So they're always looking for what is this person not telling me while they're telling me?(00:16:47) What I love about Ed is that he's just genuine, always giving, and people always say, man, they just wanted to come to work with Ed because it was great to be around.Social Post:Are you looking for a podcast that will help you develop your social intelligence, work ethic, and integrity? • Uncaging Confidence - Jon Mossey
    Jul 11 2023
Beginning with the captivating detail that Jacob Jones and Jon Mossey discussed the importance of taking action and having the right habits in place in order to achieve one's goals, this podcast episode explored the power of having an internal locus of control and how to cultivate confidence and success through behaviors, habits, communication, physical fitness, and ownership. Additionally, they discussed an upcoming event in Tampa Bay, Indomitable Events.com, which is for young and middle-aged entrepreneurs and professionals looking to take their mindset to the next level. Jacob and Jon also discussed the importance of making an impact and helping people, the power of authenticity in leadership, and Jacob's experience of helping a family in need. Finally, they discussed the six pillars of confidence, the importance of setting goals in the right way, and the power of taking ownership of one's life.Episode Outline:(00:05:57) Mindset Training(00:11:51) Empowering Others(00:17:43) Authentic Leadership(00:48:05) Take Imperfect Action(00:30:51) Developing Confidence(00:24:16) Building Confidence(00:00:01) Reactive vs Proactive(00:36:08) Confidence Building(00:41:35) Internal Locus of ControlQuotes:(00:17:25) And so trying to keep that up and keep up that facade is exhausting. And so, once you acknowledge that you do need help, it's a very powerful thing. And people appreciate that because it brings a level of authenticity for you. People can trust you because you're not acting like someone that's all perfect. They understand that you bleed, too,(00:48:11) Take action. The last chapter of my book, fuck Someday, is titled time to Take imperfect Action. So if it's something that you've been thinking about doing, something that you feel would be fulfilling, something that's part of your purpose, get started on it today and you're going to make mistakes. But imperfect action is going to trump the perfect, best late plan in your head any day of the week.(00:28:00) Confidence is credibility with yourself. And so setting your goals the right way so that they're moderately challenging, so that you're moving the needle but not making them too challenging to the point where you're falling short and feeling like you fail all the time, it's finding that moderate middle ground. It's extremely important in terms of how you set things up.(00:04:06) It's better to be a warrior in the garden than a gardener in the war.(00:20:36) And so to be able to understand the mental processes behind that, that's going to give you more control. That's tools that you can have regardless of what avenue in life whether you're going to be a psychologist or, like I said, a businessman or a personal trainer or a firefighter, I mean, there's psychology in everything that you can use to help yourself and to help other people.(00:36:36) It's the behaviors and the habits that you have to do and just consistently enough and like I said, with confidence. You do these things day in and day out. You feel you have credibility with yourself and confidence, just like interest is going to compound and you start to see, if I did this, maybe I can do this and it just snowballs.(00:10:00) My argument for that is that it's just the opposite. Not giving other people the best version of yourself. That's the selfish part.(00:42:52) But by looking at it and saying, hey, what could I have done differently in vetting that partner, in making these decisions and doing these things, that's the only way I could affect change for us.(00:33:26) But if we think to ourselves like, okay, well, if someone is treating me that way, is that a happy person? And then we realize the whole idea that hurts people, hurts people. And then you go from a point of being angry and upset and wanting to wish for that person to be hit by a bus to having empathy for that person.Blog Post:It's no secret that having the right habits in place is essential to achieving your goals. We all know that it's important to take action and to have an internal locus of control, but how do you actually cultivate the confidence and success you desire? Jacob Jones and Jon Mossey recently discussed this topic on the Green Light Theory podcast, and they explored the power of behaviors, habits, communication, physical fitness, and ownership.Jacob and Jon discussed an upcoming event in Tampa Bay, Indomitable Events.com, which is for young and middle-aged entrepreneurs and professionals looking to take their mindset to the next level. And some people are like, wow, you're really good. Some people are not listening at all and not noticing.(00:03:20) I began being the creator of my life.(00:37:24) Men in today's society are shut down from [intuition]. Shut down. And instantly, I was like, wow. That's a good way to look at it. With negativity and rejection on the doors, you really have to get good at spinning the perspective at figuring out a way to look at every situation where you feel good about it, where you feel positive[00:06:52] Because what I found was that the difference between the most successful person in solar and the least successful person has to do with the quality of their thoughts and the quality of their emotions. And I love that you hit on that mental and the emotional side because I think that's huge [00:10:59] Essentially, it's 4 exercises, g i v e. Need to give to yourself before you can give to anyone else. So you're making it personal and you're internalizing it but do that even just for a few minutes every day, so 30 days and watch where you end up 30 days from now because most people are not doing this. That's gratitude [00:12:46] Meditation will help you get some of that 50 percent of your time back. So now you're able to do more in the same amount of time. Nothing changed. Only thing changes your distracted than the day beforeBlog PostArticle 1: Staying Positive in Sales with Earl Kapule Welcome back to The Greenlight Theory! In this episode, our host Jacob Jones sits down with Earl Kapule – a solar industry veteran with almost a decade of experience. Earl has gained a reputation for his unique approach towards sales, which is rooted in having a gratitude mindset. During the podcast, Earl shares his top tips on staying positive even when you're faced with constant rejection. Tip 1: Shift your perspective - Earl believes that when it comes to negativity and rejection, you really have to get good at flipping the script in your mind. One of the things that he learned when he first started out in solar was that every "no" is closer to a "yes". "Getting 'no's' by saying every no is closer to a yes, just makes that situation a little bit more positive and makes you want to actually go out there and do it just because you shifted the perspective," says Earl. Tip 2: Positive in, Positive out – Earl attributes his success to constant self-improvement and listening to positive messages, books, and podcasts. He believes in the mantra “positive in, positive out”. “So if I'm gonna listen to music, it's uplifting music. If I'm gonna listen to a podcast, it's gonna be about sales. It's gonna be about positivity and how to rewire my subconscious so that I can better take rejection,” says Earl. Tip 3: Find happiness in the simplest things - Earl's journey started in Hawaii, where he grew up surrounded by drugs, crime, and domestic violence. His past experiences have taught him that finding joy in the smallest things can make a big impact. Earl believes that when you find happiness in the simplest moments of life, you're able to cultivate an attitude of gratitude, which translates into a positive mindset. If you're looking to boost your sales game and learn how to stay positive even when the going gets tough, then this is an episode that you don't want to miss.
