Golden Shores

  • Summary

  • Welcome to our brand new podcast On Golden Shores, a podcast all about pregnancy, birth and the fourth trimester.

Golden Shores is our holistic pregnancy and birth course. It’s a unique course built on the foundations of our knowledge and experience of both working with hundreds of women in this realm - and - our own experiences of transitioning into motherhood. We built the course we wish we’d had.

We were tired of seeing women get shafted by the birth industry. The promise that if you held the ‘right’ mindset and used the ‘right’ language then birth would unfold in a certain way.

We were frustrated with the narrative that there was a ‘best’ way to give birth.

We knew that women needed so much more than just information, tools and techniques about the birth itself.

We believe that the most important thing is how you feel. That this is a precious moment in your life. You deserve the care and space to consider how you want it to be. To understand what is happening and the options that are available to you.

Your choices for your birth, but also your early days, weeks and months as a new mother.

  • Anxious pregnancies after a long ttc journey with Hazel Leonard
    Sep 20 2023

Registered Midwife & IVF Mum Hazel Leonard is a fertility educator and founder of The Prepared Pineapple. She has over 14 years experience in women’s health working both in UK and Dubai and is licensed by The Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) in UK and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) in the UAE. Following on from her own personal experience with infertility, IVF and other fertility treatment’s she felt there was a huge need for support for others going through the same thing.

“I realised navigating trying to conceive and IVF was very complex and often overwhelming process. I couldn't believe that the my main resource for information was the internet and the limited support available to people like me going through this experience. This is why I then created The Prepared Pineapple Fertility Programme™”

You can find out more about The Prepared Pineapple Fertility Programme here; https://thepreparedpineapple.com/ and follow Hazel’s Instagram here; https://www.instagram.com/thepreparedpineapple/?hl=en

In this conversation Hazel thoughtfully shares her experiences of assisted conception and long awaited pregnancy through the lenses of both mother and midwife. We talk about pregnancy anxiety, waiting for milestones and our expectations of birth and motherhood after long haul journeys to get there. It was an honour having Hazel as a guest and we hope you take as much from the conversation as we did.

  • Building Your Postpartum Village with Mel Johnson
    Jul 21 2023

Mel Johnson joins us this week to share her experience of solo parenthood. She speaks so beautifully and sensibly about building her village and support network for postpartum and parenting.

It’s a helpful listen, we loved hearing her speak about her ‘saw it on a movie’ expectations vs reality. We cover getting help that is actually helpful, practical advice on asking for things and managing communication.

She talks about the importance of knowing yourself and understanding your circumstances and how you can find the best way for you.

Mel has some brilliant coaching courses which you can find here - www.thestorkandi.com/groupcoaching

We run a pregnancy, birth and recovery course, also called Golden Shores and you can find out more about that here www.goldenbirthing.com
