  • RE-RELEASE: Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brené Brown
    Nov 19 2024

This week we are re-releasing a classic episode from the Go Help Yourself archives!

In this episode, originally released in 2019, Misty and Lisa review the #1 New York Times Bestseller Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent and Lead by Brené Brown.

Brené Brown is an American research professor in The Graduate College of Social Work at the University of Houston. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy, and is the author of five #1 New York Times best sellers: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, Braving the Wilderness, and her latest book, Dare to Lead, which is the culmination of a seven-year study on courage and leadership.

Brown’s 2010 TED talk – The Power of Vulnerability – is one of the top five most viewed TED talks in the world, with over 35 million views. You can watch it here.

Lisa and Misty cover every chapter in this Daring Greatly Book Review, but spend most of their time on the first four:

    1. Scarcity: Looking Inside Our Culture of “Never Enough”
    2. Debunking The Vulnerability Myths
    3. Understanding and Combating Shame
    4. The Vulnerability Armory
    5. Mind The Gap: Cultivating Change and Closing the Disengagement Divide
    6. Disruptive Engagement: Daring to Rehumanize Education and Work
    7. Wholehearted Parenting: Daring to Be the Adults We Want Our Children to Be
