  • Summary

  • Maria Adebowale-Schwarte, CEO of the Foundation for Future London, has launched a new podcast series called Future London, all about East London and the communities we support. The Future London podcast series will focus on the changing face of East London and what exciting prospects -- and also potential pitfalls – are in store for local people as we see a huge amount of change in the area, as a result of sustainable development and investment in arts, culture & creative sectors, plus urban renewal, gentrification and shifting trends. The series will also explore different aspects of the work we do as a Foundation, including environment, public realm, employment, housing, health and more. We will invite guests from our vast network of partners, funders, grantees and sector colleagues from London, the UK and across the world who can help shed light on what the future holds. ABOUT US Foundation for Future London is an independent charity created to connect communities, the new East Bank and its globally renowned arts, innovation and cultural partners to ensure East Bank is London’s must-visit destination and becomes a resilient, thriving, world-class neighbourhood of local and global significance. • Future London podcast series Issue 1 - The Future of Creative Education
    Feb 2 2023

Maria Adebowale-Schwarte, CEO of the Foundation for Future London, has launched a new podcast series about the communities we support and the work that we deliver.

In this first issue, Maria speaks to Matt Lane, CEO and Artistic Director of children and young people charity Eastside, and Louise Kent, a young trainee involved with Eastside, exploring the subject of ‘Future of Creative Education’. Eastside’s young producers also recorded and produced this first podcast.

In 2022, Eastside received a Capital Grant from our Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund.

The Fund is an ambitious five-year programme, funded by retailer Westfield Stratford City, that aims to invest £10 million in to local communities of Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest. The programme will provide new jobs, learning, training and educational programmes through the means of arts, culture, innovation, public realm and creative placemaking.

Eastside is also supported through our Foundations Programme, co-funded by City of London, for the Creative Schools programme, a project that aims to give children and young people in schools and colleges with limited arts and cultural provision to experience creative arts projects with professional artists and help give teachers continuing professional development in using arts, culture and creativity in their lessons.

Eastside is an arts organisation that works with children and young people in and out of school to provide high quality arts and culture learning experiences.
