  • Nel 1856 alcuni minatori avvisano il maestro di scienze del paesino Johann Carl Fuhlrott in seguito al ritrovamento di uno strano scheletro nella cava mineraria di Feldhofer, nella valle di Neander in Germania.Fuhlrott studia le ossa e azzarda la possibilità che appartenessero a un lontano antenato ominide.
    Condivide la sua tesi con l’anatomista Schaffausen dell’Università di Bonn, e anche l’accademico conferma che le ossa sono umane. Non si sa di quale umanità, certamente una molto antica e lontana dalla nostra.

    Si apre uno dei capitoli più affascinanti sulla (lenta) scoperta dell’evoluzione dell’umanità.
