  • 秩父には埼玉県入間市から秩父を通って長野県茅野市まで繋がっている国道299号線が走っています。実はこの国道、別の呼び名で「酷い道」と書いて『酷道（こくどう）』とも呼ばれています。その理由として日本の国道としては2番目に高いところを走っているという点もありますが、それ以上にその昔、この地に住んでいた人達の厳しい食生活を反映したものでもあるのです・・・。
