  • Stress: Learn From It, Accept It, or Let It Go
    Sep 6 2020

Yes! Dear Mom, Love Daughter, is back from a much-needed vacation before the chaos of the fall begins. Tune in this week to hear what stresses Becca and Andrea out, how these anxieties affect their relationship, and their goals on how to improve upon how they address these stresses for the coming year.

In the midst of Becca and Andrea's time off from work, organization, and habits of daily life, they realized they needed to address their stresses head-on, so they could start the fall with a cleansed and clear slate. Stress can be a parasite in areas of our lives we don't even notice until it's too late.

In this episode, Becca and Andrea discuss the ways in which their respective stresses can be toxic in different areas of their lives...as well as how, sometimes, stress is a good thing. Stress is a feeling our bodies produce for a reason, and the key is looking at it head-on to figure out how to address it.

  • I Guess...This Episode is Called "Female Confidence, Communication, and Self-Advocacy"
    Aug 8 2020

I guess...I think...But...I'm so sorry if this is wrong...In this week's episode of DMLD, Becca and Andrea talk about female self-advocacy, self-promotion, communication style, and confidence. Despite being at different stages of life, this is a topic that Andrea and Becca find themselves talking about time and time again.

While men often come across as confident and ambitious in the workplace and in social settings...even regarding things they may have not yet accomplished, women often feel shameful for promoting their accomplishments. This comes across in the way women speak, interact, and even expressed through body language.

If women can't be confident and certain about what they KNOW to be true within themselves, then what can they be certain about in life?

Dear Mom, Love SON (Part 1 of 2)?! Yes, this is still an episode of Dear Mom, Love Daughter, but with a twist! Or is it really a twist?

In this week's episode, Becca and Andrea interview Bonnie and Gabriel Beer...a mother-son duo. Bonnie, who loves "all things girly", is a mother of three boys, but always dreamed of having a daughter. Tune into this episode to learn how Bonnie raised her boys to embrace their individualism, and combat societal pressures and stereotypes. Gabriel reflects on growing up in a house of all boys and his respect and admiration for his mom.

Given that this is the 10th episode of DMLD, Becca and Andrea have done a lot of thinking about how the real meaning behind this podcast is not only relatable for mothers and daughters but any parent-child relationship.

  • Transitions: Becca Moves Out...
    Jul 18 2020

In this week's episode, it is the first time that Becca and Andrea are not recording the podcast in the same physical space. Becca has moved out and into her apartment near her university and Andrea is still at home. Becca and Andrea dive into a difficult and honest conversation on why Becca was so adamant about moving out and how Andrea feels about all of this.

It is a strange feeling when you realize for the first time that as much as you want to take the positive things you learned from your parents into your adult life, that there are also things you don't want to take with you. This is a weird and difficult transition for both the child and the parent. Do parents get offended by hearing this even though they may think the same way about their own parents? By engaging in this discussion, Becca and Andrea say some pretty hard things, but discover a common ground of mutual respect. Tune in to get to TEA!
