Covid and the Guru - part 1

  • Summary

  • Over weeks of Covid-19 lockdown, somewhere between 60 and 80 musicians from different parts of the world ... in their bedrooms and living rooms ... armed only with alcohol and personal recorders ... laid down 24-36 bars of a common old country-blues song. They had no idea what others were doing, and they had no idea of what the final track was going to end up like.

All they had to work to was a rough (very) demo of the producer with his rhythm guitar, outlining the structure of the song. No master arrangement, no access to recording studios, and no hint as to what other players might be doing.

    The result will surprise you!

But as you listen to it, keep in mind that this was a project launched in musical desperation. Therefore it has a suitably desperate COMPETITION attached to it.

Is this a professionally run competition? Far from it. Is it a legit lottery-type competition? Far from it. Is there a law against giving away free alcohol to those most in need of it – other musicians? Very likely.

So if any official comes knocking on my door, demanding to know what authority I have to conduct a competition, I will say it's only satire. BUT, if you're not an official, the details of the competition are here on my website:
