    Since landfall on Florida's coast, Red Cross volunteers from the Bay Area are already there helping to provide shelter--a growing need as officials warn that flooding could continue through the weekend. For someone with opioid use disorder, methadone could be the key to avoiding an overdose and achieving recovery, but in California..its use has long-been heavily restricted. Today, Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law a bill that would change all that. It’s opening day at a beloved, pumpkin patch in the Southbay.   • California Association of Realtors expects home prices to rise next year

    In a partial victory for advocates of reparation, Governor Newsom signed a bill that calls for a formal apology for California's roll in perpetuating slavery. California home prices are expected to go up next year, according to the California Association of Realtors. Six homeless women were arrested and charged with misdemeanors during a protest in the State Capitol over aggressive homeless encampment sweeps. The tide could be turning for the Port of Oakland, where after four years of COVID-induced budget cuts, dipping imports and supply chain challenges, the Port Authority says its numbers are up. It’s time for an annual fall concert series in downtown San Jose and one group is hoping it helps bring life back to a historic park. A non-profit is giving away $100,000 in awards to help talented young people in the Bay Area foster their creative dreams.
