  • 张芷美女士在书中还谈到了自己两次去柏林的经历。 她说，由于从小在教会学校上学，自己的英语不错，1951年，刚满 16 岁的她谎报年龄是 18岁，在中国的一个国营进出口公司找到了一份英文打字的工作。同一年，中国开始与东欧开展贸易，张芷美不久就被这个进出口公司派驻东柏林工作。 张芷美说，1951 年看到的东柏林满处废墟，男人几乎都是半残废，食品商品都实行配给制。 她在东柏林待了两年多，见识了很多，学了很多，于 1954 年返回中国。 在德国工作期间，张芷美与一位德国女士建立了友谊，但文革期间两人的联系断了。 来到加拿大后，张芷美开始寻找这位女士，结果居然重新取得了联系，1997年，在被 SNC-Lavalin 公司派往中国山西工作之前，她重返柏林，与这位德国女士再次见面。 播客音频： https://www.rcinet.ca/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2020/09/009cd2b6.mp3
