really helpful
the book is excellent - both content and narration. however i felt that the meditations were sometimes too wordy which was distracting - too much explanation and not enough quiet time to try what was being suggested. the chapters in the audio version do not correlate to what is being described, so it was hard to find the meditations initially - they should be clearly marked.
but overall i found this really useful and even though i haven't done the full recommended program (which is very time consuming) i have still noticed a difference in my thinking and reactivity from the few meditations I've done.

Highly recommended.
This is a fantastic book. I have read books on mindfulness and depression in the past but hearing it narrated by the authors made the concepts and exercises sink in on a much deeper level. These guys are very knowledgeable about the topic and seem to practice what they preach. Highly recommend.

Wonderful advice, wonderfully given. Both of the two speakers sound and feel like wise friends who know what they are talking about from own experience! Listening several times, especially to the later parts has helped me to absorb the timeless wisdom and start to live it!
A technical note: At first the references by Mark to “tracks” on which certain guided sessions with Jon were to be found, are confusing, as these don’t match the chapters on audible (they likely refer to the original CD version), but after a few tries it became easy enough to figure out (and remember) which audible “chapters” were which “tracks”.
Well worth the time and effort. - Take care!

Better than I thought!
I was a bit hesitant when I got this as there are many 'mindfulness' type books and practices around but this one was really good. It talks about mindfulness as an acceptance practice where you are not trying to achieve a goal, you can just be. It talks about how our minds, thoughts and feelings can sweep us away and negative patterns can take over, becoming negative spirals that are common in depression. It shows that trying to force ourselves to think positively, or not negativly, often has the opposite effect. The authors also recommend that readers not do the whole practice while in a depressed state, but to wait until you feel a bit better. I found that very good advice as adding one more thing to do when you're in the depths of it isn't helpful especially when it involves sitting quietly as the negative thought often just take over.
