Publisher's Summary

Start Where You Are is an indispensable audiobook for cultivating fearlessness and awakening a compassionate heart. With insight and humor, Pema Chödrön offers guidance on how we can accept our flaws and embrace ourselves wholeheartedly as a prerequisite for developing compassion. Chödrön frames her teachings around fifty-nine traditional Tibetan Buddhist slogans (called lojong in Tibetan), such as: “Always apply only a joyful state of mind” and “Don’t seek others’ pain as the limbs of your own happiness.” Through working with these slogans, we can begin to develop the courage to face our inner pain and thereby discover a wealth of freedom, well-being, and confidence.

Really resonated with me at this stage of my life

This is about the 5th attempt I've had of both listening and reading this book. I really couldn't get into it previously but this time around after being recommended it once again by another person I respected it really hit home to me. Was exactly what I needed to keep me on path far away from mindlessness.

Amazing book

Can speak to you at any time. I have read and re-read this book numerous times. Sometimes I just play when driving and looking for some inspiration- no matter where I start it always seems to be the right place for where I am at that time!
I highly recommend it for anyone looking for ways to understand the nature of the mind.
