About this listen

'Truly life-changing' - Dolly Alderton

'The only 'diet' book worth reading this new year' - Alexandra Heminsley,
Grazia

Just Eat It isn’t just a book. It’s part of a movement to help us take back control over our bodies. To free us from restrictive dieting, disordered eating and punishing exercise. To reject the guilt and anxiety associated with eating and, ultimately, to help us feel good about ourselves.

This anti-diet guide from registered nutritionist Laura Thomas PhD can help you sort out your attitude to food and ditch punishing exercise routines. As a qualified practitioner of Intuitive Eating – a method that helps followers tune in to innate hunger and fullness cues – Thomas gives you the freedom to enjoy food on your own terms.

There are no rules: only simple, practical tools and exercises including mindfulness techniques to help you recognize physiological and emotional hunger, sample conversations with friends and colleagues, and magazine and blog critiques that call out diet culture.

So, have you ever been on a diet? Spent time worrying that you looked fat when you could have been doing something useful? Compared the size of your waistline to someone else's? Felt guilt, actual guilt, about the serious crime of . . . eating a doughnut? You're not alone. Just Eat It gives you everything you need to develop a more trusting, healthy relationship with food and your body.

The audiobook of Just Eat It includes four bonus podcast episodes featuring the author, Laura Thomas PhD, RNutr, and a contributor per episode including Sofie Hagen, Natalie Lee (of StyleMeSunday), Tally Rye and Clemmie Telford.

Absolutely Life changing!

Thank you so much for writing your book. For years I’ve been restricting & binging. Punishing myself for not being able to stick to a diet, berating myself for failing to stick to my low carb, no sugar, no dairy, no fun existence and being OBSESSED with food/body image which has captivated every waking moment. Thank you for making me feel normal and inviting my body to make the decisions - it’s honestly life changing. Your book is lighthearted and beautifully written. Thank you, thank you, thank you

Blown away

Whether you are new to Intuative Eating or an old hand there is plenty of goodness in here. I was gobsmacked to learn of the average amount spent per dollar in some of the big weight loss companies. Thankyou Laura for an incredible book!

Incredibly honest

I have to admit that I haven't finished this book yet. In fact, when I bought it I was pretty sure that I would probably end up exchanging it for something else, most likely a book about Keto or Intermittent Fasting since they are the latest diets that guarantee rapid weight loss without pain or denial.
The thing is, I have tried all of the latest diets, pretty much from the time I was 18. When I started trying different diets I was not actually overweight, I just felt compelled to be thinner than I was because I wanted to look like the stick figures that I was seeing on the TV and in magazines. Now, here I am, 40 years later and still rolling from one diet to another.
Today, however, I started listening to this book. It is not wishy washy, it does not promise anything, it is just downright honest. Food is not the problem.

Unnatural

It doesn’t feel natural for her to swear so it made me feel uncomfortable listening to it.

I’m sure there is good intent behind what she is saying and I was onboard with some of it but in general she just sounds angry.

I gave it until about half way through and then decided I wasn’t getting much from it and stopped listening.

I cringed every time the f word was mentioned

Good information that was backed by evidence. I got to the podcast and couldn’t listen to it any further because I was completely over the swearing by that point
