David Walliams
In addition to his children’s books, Walliams is renowned for his comedy, and in particular his work on the popular sketch comedy television show Little Britain which he created with Matt Lucas. Little Britain ran from 2003-06 on BBC and won many awards including two BAFTAs. Walliams supports many charitable causes and has participated in a number of Sport Relief initiatives including swimming the English Channel in 2006, and swimming the Thames in 2011.
Born ‘David Williams’, he began using the stage name ‘David Walliams’ after joining the Equity trade union because of its policy requiring members have a unique professional name (and ‘David Williams’ was already taken). Walliams was born 20 August 1971 in London, England.
