alyssia charisse mccloud, who writes as unLYSHed, welcomed writing as a part of her identity in 2017 as a senior at Clark Atlanta University. While serving as Miss CAU, LYSH hosted an event where she was able to perform her poetry publicly for the first time, openly speaking of her battle with mental health after the shatter experienced as a survivor of relational trauma. God breathed a freshness into LYSH’s life and healing during this season – one that came from His mercy and the writing and sharing of her story. The Sunflower Project and Consumed: The Survivor’s Story, are two self-published products birthed from LYSH’s soul; they tell of how a girl came to be a woman; how a woman who thought she had to settle as anybody's, became somebody in Christ; and of how "somebody" became unLYSHed - worthy, loved, healed, freed - when she gave God her "yes." As unLYSHed, LYSH developed the PetalxStrokes platform where she blends her professional identity as a becoming mental health counselor with her passion and gift as a poet, writer, and artist, through which she inspires other trauma survivors to write through their stories and to grow from fragmented to found. LYSH's hope is that through her continued witness as a narcissistic abuse and sexual assault survivor and a Daughter of the King, that those who have the same scars as her, will choose to heal and to know their unlyshed selves by running to the Creator - for love that is true and never fails; for a healed self-image; for an existence approaching wholeness; and for a much-deserved rest.
