Zirk van den Berg has written and published books in two languages, in two countries, with books appearing at both Random House and Penguin. You can read more on www.zirkvandenberg.com In his early writing career, he wrote literary works in Afrikaans, published in his native South Africa by Tafelberg Publishers. The short story book "Ekstra Dun Vir Meer Gevoel" as well as the short historical novel "Wydsbeen" are now available on Amazon in Kindle format. Zirk migrated to New Zealand in 1998 and started writing fiction in English. In 2004, Random House NZ published his crime novel "Nobody Dies" to significant acclaim. The ebook version appeared in 2011. Two years later, the Afrikaans translation of this book appeared in print as "'n Ander Mens". (Also available as ebook on Amazon) The Afrikaans translation won the film category at the inaugural kykNET-Rapport book awards in 2014. An Afrikaans language feature film inspired by the book was released in theatres in 2019. Van den Berg's light-hearted crime romp "No-Brainer" is set in New Zealand. Penguin South Africa published his historical novel "Half Of One Thing" in 2014, with the Afrikaans version "Halfpad Een Ding" appearing at the same time. In 2018, his historical novels set in colonial era Namibia, "Parts Unknown"/"Die Vertes In", also appeared in both languages. In 2019, a present day novella, "Ek Wens, Ek Wens" (i.e. "I Wish, I Wish") appeared in South Africa, garnering excellent reviews. The English version of that book is still looking for a publisher...
