W.A. Ashes is a Nebraskan author who specializes in fantasy. She published her first work, a short story titled The Summer of 1956, in July 2016 and has a never-ending list of writing projects to complete. She's been writing since a child but was first published in the Grand Island Independent newspaper under her legal name and then went on to publish independently on Deviantart. Her pen name was created from the user name she used on DA as an alias while publishing as a minor. Now, though she is open about her legal name, she keeps the pen name as a nod to her younger self. Ashes currently resides in Gothenburg, Nebraska, and is focusing on writing midwestern-based stories to honor the heritage of her state. She specializes in fantasy, paranormal, contemporary, and clean romances. ​Ashes is a cat mom to two male cats. A black cat, named Spook, and an orange cat, named Tarot.
