Dr. Veronica Carey is one of the world’s leading advocates, champions, and powerful voices within the student experience space. With a stellar 20+ career in academia, she currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Drexel University and Associate Clinical Professor in the College of Nursing and Health Professions, as a Chair of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association Academy, and holds a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) certification and a Certified Diversity Executive (CDE®). Coupled with her extensive experience in behavioral health program planning and management, continuing education training and policy development, Dr. Carey strives to strategically redefine educational structures to better serve and empower students from all backgrounds. It is both her students’ experiences as well as her own personal experiences as a Cisgender, African American, Female, Heterosexual, Married, Mother, PhD, Author, and Christian have shaped her view of how educational institutions need to be changed to better support all student groups. With her June 2023 book, Frame Your Degree: How to Avoid Pain while Seeking a College Degree, Dr. Carey hopes to support students she will never meet to navigate higher education and be successful when she is not around!
