I've spent most of my life working in Human Resources and OD, racing from one thing to another, but Covid-19 has made me stop and think, and start writing! My first book, 'The Train Blog: Odd and Weird People Watching', raised funds for health charities. It's all about the fun and games of commuting, now called social history! 'Human Resources A to Z: A Practical Field Guide for People Managers' is the book I wanted to be able to buy when I started out in HR. 'Hidden Disabilities and Conditions: Creating an Inclusive Workplace' is based on many interviews with people working with conditions. As many as one in five have a hidden condition, and this book addresses the very real issues that they face and helps organisations think through the accommodations that they can make. 'Willie Goes for a Swim' (German and Italian translations available), 'Willie's Birthday Party', 'Willie and the Lion Cubs', 'Willie Saves the Wedding' are fun stories about a naughty young hippo who uses poo spray to frighten off the monkeys. ' “The Adventures of Willie the Hippo: Fun and Games at the Safari Park” is a special hard back edition featuring all the books listed above and a bonus story about 'Willie's Christmas Delivery'. 'Willie the Hippo Mindfulness Colouring Book' is being sold in aid of Frazzled Cafe, the amazing mental health charity founded by Ruby Wax. 'Arthur Ramsbottom & the Dinkle Donkle', 'Lucy the Inquisitive Calf' and 'The Exploding Turnips' have been published for children aged 6 to 12 (royalties go to The Ideas Foundation). And 'Lockdown Jarod' has just been published for teenagers. I have helped curate and edit a new book called 'Products of a Pandemic', documenting the lives of international borders impacted by Covid. And I have just helped Jenny Tonge publish her autobiography, 'Pit Banks to Red Benches' Aside from writing, I'm a keen amateur photographer, and I love attending live sports fixtures and most genres of music, Glastonbury and Glastonbudget being two of my favourites.... or will be once we are allowed to!
