Shirley writes psychological thrillers, as well as YA and MG novels. All her work has a wry comic undertone. She has written and produced plays for Radio 4 and the theatre. Shirley also writes for film. She teaches grads & undergrads screenwriting & theatre at FSU and Eckerd in London, as well as working as a consultant for The Literary Consultancy. She’d like to think that even in the darkest corners of the darkest moments of her darkest books, there is always a dry sense of humour that can carry the reader through.
