Sarah Roberts is an author, freelance writer, public speaker, wife to Chris and mum to 3 children - Oscar, Alfie and Flo. Having found out postnatally that her eldest son Oscar had Down Syndrome, Sarah started writing the award winning blog, she named “Don’t Be Sorry”. With a following across social media of just over 47k she’d wanted to raise awareness about the condition but also give a very real and raw insight, into both the challenges he faces, mixed with the pretty brilliant life he leads. When Oscar was born, she was told by the paediatrician delivering the news, that she was “sorry”. Everything about the experience and the way the diagnosis was spoken of, was with sadness and regret. Sarah now regularly speaks to medical professionals about the impact of language used when delivering unexpected news and hopes that in turn the message is spreading across the globe, that there is absolutely nothing to be sorry about. In 2019 Sarah’s first book “For the love of Oscar”, based around Oscars birth, diagnosis and early years was published. It reached Number 11 on the UK Amazon Best Sellers list and her next book “Don’t Be Sorry” which is the sequel to the first, is out in August 2022. She is also in the early stages of writing a children’s book TBC Sarah is currently training to be a Psychotherapist/Counsellor and hopes to qualify in the Summer of 2023 . Over the years Sarah has spoken to many other families who’ve found themselves in a similar position to herself and having offered them some hope, now wants to transfer those skills to a career in therapy.
