Ruth Whippman is a British author, journalist and documentary film maker living in the United States. Her essays, cultural criticism and journalism have appeared in the New York Times, Time magazine, New York magazine, The Guardian, The Huffington Post and elsewhere. Her first book, America the Anxious, was a New York Post Best Book of the Year, a New York Times Editors Choice, A Daily Mail must read and a Sunday Times top Summer read. Fortune Magazine described her as one of the "25 sharpest minds" of the decade and asked her to contribute one of the 'Ideas that will Shape the 2020s" for their January 2020 edition. She is a regular speaker at venues including TEDx, Google, The Moth and Somerset House in London and appears regularly as a guest on radio, television and podcasts. She lives in Northern California with her husband and three sons.
