Born and raised in the Midwest, Rita Kramer obtained her BA from University of Chicago. Although she came to political consciousness as an "Adlai Stevenson liberal," she began reconsidering her viewpoints in the late 60s. She eventually joined the conservative intellectual movement, in large part as a result of conclusions she arrived at through the field research for her books on the U.S. educational system and juvenile justice. She contributed articles and reviews to New York Times, Wall Street Journal, International Herald Tribune, Commentary, American Spectator, The Public Interest, the Quarterly Journal of Military History, as well as other publications. Her books include "Maria Montessori: A Biography," "Ed School Follies: The Miseducation of America's Teachers," "At a Tender Age: Violent Youth and Juvenile Justice," and "Flames in the Field: The Story of Four SOE Agents in Occupied France."
