Raphael Cormack is Assistant Professor in the department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Durham University, with a PhD in Egyptian theatre from the University of Edinburgh. He is an award-winning editor and translator and has written on Arabic culture for the London Review of Books and elsewhere. His first book was Midnight in Cairo: The Divas of Egypt's Roaring '20s. His second book is Holy Men of the Electromagnetic Age.
